Terms of service
Effective July 9, 2026. Using the site or buying a product means you agree to these.
What this service is
Before the Call Comes provides guided tools that help you gather, organize, and print your family's emergency information: the free First 24 Hours Readiness Check and The One Phone Call Plan. You answer questions, and the tools produce printable documents built from your answers.
What this service is not
Before the Call Comes is an organizer and conversation-support tool. It is not medical, legal, financial, or insurance advice, and nothing on this site creates a professional relationship of any kind. The tools never tell you what care to choose, what legal document to sign, or what coverage to buy; they organize what your family knows and help you bring better questions to the professionals who do advise you. In an emergency, call 911 first. Nothing here replaces emergency services or a doctor's judgment.
Your information and your responsibility
The documents the tools produce are only as accurate as the answers you type in. Keeping them current, and confirming anything critical (medication names, doses, directives) against the source, is your responsibility. Your saved work is reached through a private link sent to your email; treat that link like a key and don't forward it to anyone you wouldn't hand your papers to. You can permanently delete your saved record at any time with the built-in delete. How we handle information is covered in the privacy policy.
Purchases and the founding offer
Purchases run through our store checkout, with cards processed by Stripe. While The One Phone Call Plan is being finished, it is sold at a founding price: buying locks that price, founding buyers get first access when the plan is released, and no release date is promised. Your purchase email confirms this. The refund guarantee is described on the refund page; for founding orders, the 30-day guarantee clock starts when you get access, not when you pay.
What you may do with the materials
Everything you print from your own answers is yours for your family's use: print it, copy it, hand it to relatives and caregivers. The tools, question flows, designs, and site content belong to Before the Call Comes and may not be resold, republished, or repackaged.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse the service: no unauthorized access attempts, no scraping, no entering another person's information without their family's authority to do so, and no use of the tools to build a competing product.
Plain-English liability limits
We build these tools carefully, and we cannot promise any outcome in an emergency. Response times, care decisions, and results depend on people and circumstances far outside this product. To the fullest extent the law allows, Before the Call Comes is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the site or products, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us. Some states don't allow certain limits, so parts of this may not apply to you.
If we ever end or change the service
Your documents are designed to live on paper, in your house, and your saved work can be exported or printed at any time. If the service is ever discontinued, printed materials keep working; that is the point of them.
Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by Oregon law. If a change to these terms matters, the effective date above changes with it, and material changes get a plain notice on the site. Questions go through the contact form.
