Privacy policy

The short version

You type in the details a family needs in an emergency, and we turn them into printable sheets. Your email plus a private link is the whole account. We never ask for the numbers a thief could use. We don't sell your information, and we don't share it for advertising. You can delete everything yourself, any time, and saved records that sit untouched for 12 months are removed automatically.

Who we are

Before the Call Comes, based in Beaverton, Oregon. The way to reach us is the contact form; replies come by email.

What we collect

Only what the product needs to do its job:

• The answers you type in the free check or the plan. Your parent's name, date of birth, home address, and preferred language; emergency contacts and their phone numbers; doctor and pharmacy details; medications and what they're for; allergies and conditions; the insurance carrier and plan name; where important documents are kept; and who has keys or makes decisions.
• Your email address and first name, if you choose to save your work. Saving is optional; the check runs and prints without it.
• Order details, if you buy something: your name, email, billing region, and what you bought. Card numbers go to our payment processor (Stripe) and never touch our servers.
• Messages you send us through the contact or support forms.
• Basic analytics. We use Google Analytics to see how the site is used (pages visited, general region, device type). This is site-level measurement; your saved answers are never sent to analytics.

What we never collect, on purpose

No Social Security numbers, no Medicare or insurance member ID numbers, no account or routing numbers, no passwords, no card numbers. The product is built so those never touch our servers: the printed binder has labeled blanks for the few numbers like that, and you add them by pen after printing. Our save system also strips any field that looks like one of those identifiers before anything is stored, as a second layer of defense.

A note on health-related information

Medication, allergy, and condition details count as consumer health information under some state laws. Here is exactly what we do with them: we store what you typed so your printed sheets and your saved check work, and nothing else. We do not sell health information, we do not share it for advertising or marketing, we do not use it to profile you, and no third party gets it except the hosting infrastructure that stores it. You provide it by choice, you can run the free check without saving it at all, and you can delete it yourself at any time.

Where your information lives

• Our database, on our hosting provider's servers, keyed to your private link. The link is the only key; there is no password and no public profile.
• Our email provider (MailerLite), which receives your email address, first name, your parent's first name, your readiness score, how you found us, whether you finished, and your private link, so it can send your results email and, if you opted in, our emails. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
• Stripe, our payment processor, which handles cards so we don't have to.

How long we keep it

Saved check and plan records that go untouched for 12 months are removed automatically. Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Contact messages are kept as long as needed to handle the conversation.

Your controls

• Run without saving. The free check works and prints with nothing stored.
• Delete everything yourself. The check and plan have a self-service delete that permanently wipes your saved record, no need to contact us.
• Unsubscribe from emails with one click, any time.
• Ask us. Use the contact form to ask what we hold about you, correct it, or have us delete it. Depending on where you live, state law may give you additional rights to access, correct, or delete your information; we honor those requests regardless of state.

What we don't do

We don't sell personal information. We don't share it with advertisers. We don't run third-party ad tracking. We don't use your family's details for anything except running and improving this product.

Children

This service is for adults organizing care for their parents. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the effective date above changes with it, and material changes get a plain notice on the site.
